Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Have you ever heard the saying “I have a lot on my plate”?
People usually say this meaning that they are very busy or have a lot of things to do. But have you ever thought about it like this; plates come in many sizes and shapes.
Comparison is the thief of joy. We are all a part of the body of Christ, but all body parts look and function very differently, don’t they?
We are the same in that we all have different functions and different portions that we can handle. Some people may have very large plates, serving platters even.
They may be constantly on the go, constantly praying and doing good works, and you may see their deeds and feel inadequate by comparison.
However, if your own plate is much smaller but you’re still filling it up, do not look down on the allotment you have been given.
God wants you to be obedient to what he has asked of you, not to try to achieve the exact same things that another person has accomplished.
- Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for using me and speaking to me and filling my plate with tasks that are perfectly made for me and my abilities. Help me to do all that you have asked of me with a cheerful heart and help me to never compare myself to others, but to strive to be the best ‘me’ that I can be each and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
